The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 11:15 a.m., Monday, Dec. 25, at the CVS located at 2503 South Road (Route 9) in the town of Poughkeepsie.

According to Lt. Craig O’Connor of the town of Poughkeepsie Police, two men placed $294.28 worth of beer and laundry detergent in a shopping car and began to leave the store with the cart without paying for the merchandise.

A female employee tried to stop the men but the man with the cart pushed past the employee and both left the store, O'Connor said.

No weapons were displayed.

The merchandise was placed in the back seat of a black Nissan Rouge that was occupied by two other men and the vehicle left in an unknown direction. No one was injured, police said.

The Rogue was located by police on Hooker Avenue a short time later, O'Connor said. The men have not been located. The vehicle was impounded as evidence.

The robbery is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 845-485-3670.
